Thanksgiving 2011 at the Cabinet

One of the best Thanksgivings ever!  We all as a family (minus Nichole who spent Thanksgiving with some girlfriends (which sucked cuz we missed her) went up to Sita and Fopa's cabinet...and celebrated Thanksgiving and our right to bare arms!  ; )

Bo, Grant and I drove up Wednesday night right after work...took less than 5 hours to get there...it was smooth sailing!  Dupe, Sita/Fopa were already up there and actually stayed up waiting for us on Wednesday night/Thursday Morning.  Dar/Rach and kids drove up on Thanksgiving day (bringing with them about 200 homemade Christmas Cookies!!).  Once they got up to the house a few of us went to a local church and (tried) to help serve Thanksgiving Dinner to the community...but there ended up being more 'helpers' than 'eaters' so we became 'eaters' and had some pumpkin and pecan pie.  It was awesome to see so many people there to help and serve the community...though I wish we could have helped serve too.

After that we went to one of the neighbors house...they have a farm-ish, not sure the true definition of a 'farm'...lets put it this way...they had a ton of animals.  Horses, cows, pigs, sheep, a goose, a dozen pheasants, miniature pony, a pet squirrel, dog...I didn't see a garden or any 'growing food', but that could have been in the 'back forty'.  We went there to feed the baby lambs and see the piglets.
I love this picture..Ash had to hold on to her treasure...a leaf she found on the ground.

Audrey fell in love with the piglets...it was sooooo cute, she kept asking to take one home with her.
Audi held this pig the whole time while in the pen...so freaking cute!!

That is Grant's little hand reaching up to the nose of the piglet...apparently they calm down if you cup their nose with your hand (or let them snuggle in your elbow as in the pic above)...Grant was trying to help ; )  pretty cute.

Squirrel time!!

Yes that's Audie, feeding a squirrel out of a baby bottle!!  She was fearless!

Shelby fell in love with the 'farm'...she kept saying how 'she belongs on a farm, with animals'...which was soooo cute as well.  Ashlen and Grant were pretty quiet the whole time...rare for Ash (commonly known as Grammacita's chatterbox), not as much for Grant.  Bo was enjoying himself too...until he heard Dar and Dupe shooting in the background...he quickly excused himself and went back to the cabinet...

The next day we hung around the cabinet, playing poker, shooting and making dinner (well mostly Sita made dinner, thanks Sita!!).  It's weird being up at the cabin because we don't get cell service...so everyone is kind of 'unplugged' from the rest of the world.  But thankfully the little country store had the 'Black Friday' newspaper so we all got to look at the ads and decided none of the sales were worth driving an hour or more for... ; )

Ash and Cita making Acorn...mush.  Moss + Acorns= Acorn Mush

Grant's turn

For once the boys had the guns away and were playing with knives instead ; )  Kiddos must have been outside.

Storytime, who needs a book when you have an iPad!?!

Friday was more of the same, hiking, shooting and eating...and just enjoying everyone's company.  We missed the big Thanksgiving at Uncle Dales/Aunt Danni's and totally missed Nichole (Auntie Nick)...but it was really fun just hanging and letting the cousins play outside and look for bugs, pick apples and just be kids!

We headed home on Saturday...I was anxious to get home by Sunday so Bo would have a full day to put up Christmas Lights and buy a Christmas Tree!!  Which he did!  Thank you my love!

On the way home Uncle Dupe came home with us...here is Uncle Dupe and Grant playing in the back seat:
